Uusia twiittejä Sandersonilta: People are asking how close the draft is to being done. Close, but I keep realizing there are points that need expanding. Current length of AMoL: 313,000 words. TofM--the longest of the two I've done so far--was 335k. AMoL will be at least that long. It WILL come out next year, and will not be split again. I'm close to the end, but still have several weeks worth of hard work to do. Back at work on AMoL. May be the day to reveal a side-character's long-hidden motivations. Just wrote a scene with Bela in it. This scene is one that RJ left instruction for in his notes; it gave me shivers when reading. Okay, that scene's done, and it is beyond awesome. Ajan pyörän kansikuvataiteilijana tuttu Darrell K. Sweet menehtyi. EDIT: Kaksi Twitter-merkintää lisää: My goal is to finish it by January. Sorry about the delay. It will be next year some time, but probably later in the year. Current AMoL length: 322,000 words. Moving us to 94% done, though I can't say exactly how much is left. 94% is just a guess at this point.

Tuoreiden twiittausten mukaan AMoL:sta on tulossa todellinen järkäle. Teos on jo yhtä pitkä kuin Towers of Midnight, vaikka kirjoittaminen on kesken eikä Sanderson ole vielä lisännyt Jordanin valmiiksi saamaa lopetusta: Current length of AMoL: 335,000 words, same size as TofM. And I haven't finished yet, nor have I added in RJ's ending. Even with edits, this will be the longest of the three WoT books I've done. Don't worry about it being split, though. That won't happen. Pisin WoT-kirja tähän mennessä on The Shadow Rising, jossa on noin 393 000 sanaa. Lord of Chaos löytyy toiselta sijalta. Kolme päivää sitten Brandon sanoi: Just finished a scene in AMoL that ranks among the most visually powerful I've ever done. I REALLY want to see this one in film form.

A Memory of Lightin valmistuminen saattaa tapahtua jo tämän viikon lopulla: Here's where we stand: Four more scenes in this section, and then all that remains is to write a little Rand and Mat I've been saving. After that, I put in RJ's ending. And then we're done. I think I'll be done by Jan 1st for sure. Maybe by the end of this week. Sanderson myös kiusasi sarjan faneja: Hm... I haven't given any good AMoL teases today, have I? Well, right now, one of the Forsaken is wearing the image of another Forsaken. EDIT: Uusia kinnostavia twiittejä: Now, on to a scene that finally, at long last, fulfills something Min saw long ago... I've finished all characters except Rand and Mat. (Note, I'm not writing in order; other characters have already-written scenes after this.) Now, I have to finish Mat's climax, write a few more Rand scenes, then add in RJ's ending material. Then we're done. Very close now. I just did something to Mat that I've been gleefully waiting to do for three years. By the way, with RJ's ending, we just passed up Fires of Heaven in length, meaning this is the third longest WoT book. (After Books 4&6.) I don't expect it to go longer than those. After editing, I'm pretty sure we'll settle at 350-360k words. (About 10% longer than TofM.)

Hienoa! Sanderson tosiaan twiittasi livenä viimeisten kohtausten kirjoittamisen. Hän sanoi kirjan julkaisuajasta: As for when the book will come out, Tor should do an announcement soon. Revisions will take a good six months. So fall, I expect. Onko tämä todella Ajan pyörän loppu? Vastaus: But lots of people are asking about outriggers/prequels. The answer is still the same. We'd rather not risk exploiting RJ's legacy. It is a step I don't think we want to take. Better to stop while we're ahead. I'm sorry, but they probably won't ever happen.

Sanderson vastasi kysymykseen, kenellä hahmolla on eniten näkökulmalukuja viimeisessä kirjassa: Boy, I haven't counted. Rand/Perrin/Egwene/Mat are all probably about neck and neck. Toinen tuore twiitti: Progress on the revision is going well; I expect to be done by mid-Feb, maybe by the end of Jan.

Suomalainen(?) fani sai nimensä kirjaan: Pia Maria Vaajakallio, you are Aes Sedai.

Päivityksiä Sandersonilta: Just updated the % for AMOL draft two to 70%. Should have the whole book done and off to Harriet in a week or so. A lot of people ask after the release date. Fall/Winter this year is still likely. However, I would like to note that Harriet is in charge. She hasn't yet read the entire book; she gets to decide when it will be released. She can delay it or push it up, whatever she wants.

Yllättävä lykkäys, mikäköhän tuossa on taustalla. Sanderson on tunnetusti erittäin nopea kirjoittaja. Martinin A Dance with Dragons tuotiin markkinoille mahdollisimman pian valmistumisen jälkeen. If this were just me, I could work a big pile of 16-hour days and get it to you in the fall. I sincerely thought that we'd be releasing the book this fall. January 8th was a surprise to me when they told me. I still think it's very possible that all will go smoothly and Harriet will push the book up. It happened with TGS, I believe, though that was only pushed up by a week. However, for now, we just have to assume January 8th is when it's coming out.

Brandon: It depends on which part of the world you are in. You will understand that when you read A Memory of Light.

Tor.com paljasti Darrell K. Sweetiltä keskeneräiseksi jääneen AMoL:n kansimaalauksen. Sitä kuvaillaan näin: The scene depicts Min, Aviendha, and Elayne gathered on a battlefield around what is presumably a funeral pyre for Rand al’Thor, the Dragon Reborn. What we recognize as a yin/yang appears in the clouds, possibly signifying a unity that has evaded male and female channelers for over 3000 years. Sweetin kuoltua kannen tekee Michael Whelan, ja hänen maalauksensa tulee esittämään eri kohtausta kirjasta. EDIT: Sanderson twiittaa: Bart on Facebook asked for AMoL status, so I thought I'd post for all of you. Revision is going well, but is a lot of work. Halfway done.

JordanConissa luettiin ääneen näyte AMoL:n prologista. Lisätietoa löytyy Dragonmount-foorumin ketjusta. Paikalla ollut fani raportoi myös kansikuvasta: It was also revealed that the Whelan art is finished, and we'll be seeing it soon. They originally planned to show it at JordanCon, but then Sweet's son said he was bringing all of the original DKS paintings, so they decided to reveal Whelan's art later. Sekä kirjan tilanteesta: They would like to turn in the final draft to Tor by June 15, but that's looking unlikely, though they didn't say so. They divided the book into 9 sections not counting the epilogue. Brandon is working on section 6 right now if I recall, and Team Jordan is working on sections 7-9. I think the epilogue was mostly written by RJ, so not a lot of work to do there from what I understand. After that, they have to do another draft just with Team Jordan, revising Brandon's changes. Then they'll send it to the beta readers, which will probably take about a month, maybe a bit less, from what little details I've picked up. So June 15 looks unlikely to me, but that's their goal. Toinen fani kertoo uuden syyn julkaisun lykkäykselle: In that same vein, Harriet also touched on why January, instead of pressing for November. Apparently the earliest date they thought they could make would be after Thanksgiving, and she said this is really too late for the holiday season because things can't be shelved.

Tor.comissa sanotaan: In keeping with the series’ covers, the scene gathers elements from a key scene in the book. Here, Rand stands with Callandor on the rocks of Shayol Ghul, heading down into its depths to confront the Dark One even as the sun itself vanishes from the world. Two Aes Sedai follow the Dragon Reborn into the mouth of darkness, two women who have been with Rand since the very beginning.

Sanderson antoi päivityksen Twitterissä: I'm sorry I don't have more specific WoT posts for you--I know that Harriet prefers me to be more closed-mouthed. However... Maria from Team Jordan has finished her revision notes for the entire book, as has Harriet herself. So we're only waiting on Alan's notes. As he's playing "Great Captain" for me on AMoL, his notes are vital--and he needs to be detailed. When I get them, I can finish revising. No chapter names yet, as it won't be until this draft is finished that I settle on the number of chapters. Some are being combined.

Orbit-kustantaja julkisti A Memory of Lightin brittikansikuvan ja ensimmäisen juoniselostuksen: ‘And it came to pass in those days, as it had come before and would come again, that the Dark lay heavy on the land and weighed down the hearts of men, and the green things failed, and hope died.’ – From Charal Drianaan te Calamon, The Cycle of the Dragon
In the Field of Merrilor the rulers of the nations gather to join behind Rand al’Thor, or to stop him from his plan to break the seals on the Dark One’s prison – which may be a sign of his madness, or the last hope of humankind. Egwene, the Amyrlin Seat, leans toward the former.
In Andor, the Trollocs seize Caemlyn.
In the wolf dream, Perrin Aybara battles Slayer.
Approaching Ebou Dar, Mat Cauthon plans to visit his wife Tuon, now Fortuona, Empress of the Seanchan.
All humanity is in peril – and the outcome will be decided in Shayol Ghul itself. The Wheel is turning, and the Age is coming to its end. The Last Battle will determine the fate of the world...
For twenty years The Wheel of Time has enthralled more than forty million readers in over thirty-two languages. A MEMORY OF LIGHT brings this majestic fantasy creation to its richly satisfying conclusion. Lopuksi vielä Brandonin tuoreita tweettejä: WoT update: Today, I added a new Rand scene to the book. One of many I've been working on, but this one came together first. Rand needs to be the focus of this book. As such, I wanted to spend a little extra time with him. We often add new scenes in the second, third, or even last drafts of a book.

Sandersonin eilinen Twitter-päivitys: Currently about 250,000 words (of 350,000) into my fourth draft of AMoL. This is the hardest of the drafts. Next one should go faster. Vertailukohtana The Fires of Heavenin pituus on noin 354 000 sanaa. EDIT: Brandon jatkaa twiittaamista: Working on a new Rand scene today too. Still a few more I want to add. This is probably the last draft where I will add new scenes, though. New Rand scene turned out great. Now, to revamp the next five to be just as awesome. 350k words, I'd guess. First draft was 360. Next draft trimmed about 30k. I'm slowly increasing it back up. Alin on vastaus kysymykseen valmiin kirjan pituudesta.

Uusia Twitter-viestejä: AMOL Update: On page 1500 of 1900 pages in my fourth draft. Still have a few new scenes to add. Will do one more major draft after this, and then we will move into more line-edit/small tweaks drafts. For those asking, about two manuscript pages become one final hardcover page. (Though it varies.) I'm planning seven or eight drafts total. The drafts of this book have been more extensive than those of the previous two, but we will do fewer of them, probably. Taas vastaus kysymykseen sanamäärästä: It is hard to say, as my draft has lots of Team Jordan comments that are being counted in the final. I think it's 340k right now. Toinen fani kysyy: so would u say final book will be around 1000 pages or so? ja Sanderson vastaa: That's a good estimate.
