He säilyvät hengissä nuoren härkäpäisen Hallie Bradyn ansiosta ja kirjassa seurataan pikkukaupungiksi kasvavan asutuksen elämää pääasiassa hänen jälkeläistensä vinkkelistä. Jokainen luku hyppää ajassa eteenpäin pari vuotta tai vuosikymmentä ja pääosassa on aina uusi henkilö, jolla on jokin yhteys Hallien aloittamaan sukuun.

15. A book by an author from a Mediterranean country: Yhdeksäs portti (Arturo Pérez-Reverte)
Kirjailija on Espanjasta.
31. A children’s classic you’ve never read: Kätkijät (Mary Norton)

15. A book by an author from a Mediterranean country: Yhdeksäs portti (Arturo Pérez-Reverte)
Kirjailija on Espanjasta.
31. A children’s classic you’ve never read: Kätkijät (Mary Norton)

Conn Iggulden: Shiang
On kulunut kaksi vuotta edellisen kirjan tapahtumista. Tarina lähtee käyntiin Shiang kaupungista. Kaksi joukkoa eri tahoilla matkaa kohti Darienia, kummallakin omat tarkoitusperänsä. Edellisen osan tapahtumia ei tarvitse muistella, melkein kaikki päähenkilöt on uusia ja tarina on irrallinen edellisestä. Joitain viittauksia edellisen kirjan tapahtumiin toki on ja osa Darienin 12 mahtisuvun kivistä ja artefakteista tulevat käyttöön. Tarina saa päätöksensä, vähän töksähtävän kylläkin, mutta muuten pidin tästä edellisen osan tapaan. 4/5

H. G. Wells: Ensimmäiset ihmiset kuussa
Teemaksi valikoitui Kuu. Ensimmäinen kirja on viimevuosisadan alusta ja suomennettu melko tuoreeltaan vuonna 1907. Kirja on vapaasti ladattavissa Project Gutenbergistä. Kesti hetken tottua vanhanaikaiseen suomenkieleen ja vanhoja sanoja ja sananmuotoja tuli bongattua matkan varrella. Kertoja mr. Bedford tapaa oudonpuoleisen keksijän Mr. Cavorin. Cavor keksi puolivahingossa menetelmän, jolla pystyttiin rakentamaan kulkuneuvo, pallo, matkustamaan Kuuhun. Niinpä parivaljakko matkusti ja pääsi laskeutumaan Kuuhun. Siellä oli kaikenlaista, mm. älyllistä elämää. Tarinassa on hieman huumoriakin mukana. 3/5
