Paolo Bacigalupi: Ship Breaker
Finalist, National Book Awards 2010 for Young People's Literature

1. A book that was nominated for or won an award in a genre you enjoy: The Laughing Policeman (Maj Sjöwall & Per Wahlöö)
Kirja on voittanut Edgar Awardin, joka myönnetään joka vuosi parhaimmalle mysteerille. Tämä olikin ihan kiinnostava teos, en ole koskaan aiemmin lukenut Beck-tarinoita, vaikka monesti onkin käynyt mielessä.
23. 4 books inspired by the wedding rhyme: Book #1 Something Old: Mainosmurha (Dorothy L. Sayers)
Teos on ilmestynyt 1933. Sayersin lordi Peter WImsey -tarina, joista en kovinkaan paljoa oikeasti edes pidä. Tämäkin meni pikalukemisella pakkopullana loppuun.
38. A book not written in traditional novel format: Preacher, Volume 1: Gone to Texas (Garth Ennis)
Graafinen novelli on tällä tagina GR:n puolella, mennään sillä.

30. A book featuring an elderly character - Margaret Atwood: Sokea surmaaja
Sokea surmaaja on monikerroksinen tarina. Uloin kerros muodostuu vanhan naisen, Iris Chasen, kertomuksesta omasta nykyhetken elämästään. Seuraava kerros on naisen muisteleminen menneisyydestä. Erillisenä tarinana on kertojan sisaren kirjoittama kertomus Sokea surmaaja, jossa siinäkin on kehyskertomus.
Kirja on pitkä, yli 700 sivuinen. 2½/5

Sokea surmaaja on monikerroksinen tarina. Uloin kerros muodostuu vanhan naisen, Iris Chasen, kertomuksesta omasta nykyhetken elämästään. Seuraava kerros on naisen muisteleminen menneisyydestä. Erillisenä tarinana on kertojan sisaren kirjoittama kertomus Sokea surmaaja, jossa siinäkin on kehyskertomus.
Kirja on pitkä, yli 700 sivuinen. 2½/5
