Jules Verne on ranskalainen.
Hyvän tuulinen kertomus kolmesta tykkikerhon jäsenestä, jotka laukaistaan Kuuhun ammuksen sisällä. Miehet eivät puutu aluksensa kulkuun millään lailla, koska mitään ohjaimia siinä ei ole. Pulmat kohdataan analyyttisillä pohdiskeluilla ilman paniikkia ja huolta. Miehistön käyttäytyminen on huumoripitoista ja rentoa. Tarinassa selitetään käsillä olevia pulmatilanteita pitkällisesti matematiikkaa ja fysiikan lakeja käyttäen, mutta toisaalta myös maallikkomaisesti. Tarinassa on paljon ympäristökuvausta niin matkan varrelta kuin Kuun läheisyydeltä. Tällainen kerronta ei oikein istunut omaan mieltymyksen piiriin. Vanhahtava suomenkieli oli kuitenkin paikoin kivaa luettavaa, mm. Kuuta kutsuttiin Maan saattolaiseksi eikä kiertolaiseksi. 2½
