Kokoelmassa ei ole yhtään huonoa tarinaa.   Kokoelman aloittaa sopivan outo Bonnie ja Clyde tyylinen kasari aikaan sijoittuva tarina [i]Pitkä kuuma kesä[/i]. Hautalaa ei syyttä ole verrattu Stephen Kingiin. Mielestäni yhtymäkohta on siinä, miten kirjailijat tulkitsevat aikaa ja yleistä maailmanmenoa. He molemmat kykenevät luomaan aidon tuntuisen ympäristön tarkkanäköisyydellään ajankuvasta. Hautalan ympäristö on usein Suomi (Vaasan seutu), Kingillä taas oma asuinseutunsa Maine.   [i]Saurin hiljaisuus[/i] on myös osoitus erinomaisesta ajankuvan tulkinnasta toki spekulatiivisella lisäyksellä. [i]Pekka Sauri ja Yölinja[/i] ohjelma tuli radiosta joskus 80-luvulta eteenpäin. Olipa erinomaisen kylmäävä tarina.   Erityisen tehokkaita olivat myös tarinat [i]Loki[/i] ja [i]Varpaat[/i]. Loki kertoo koirasta, joka ei jätä omistajaansa. Kylmääväksi tarinan tekee se, että Loki ei ole mikään tavallinen lemmikki. Kokoelman päättää piinanvan klaustrofobinen [i]Varpaat[/i].  4½[/spoiler]3. He molemmat kykenevät luomaan aidon tuntuisen ympäristön tarkkanäköisyydellään ajankuvasta. Hautalan ympäristö on usein Suomi (Vaasan seutu), Kingillä taas oma asuinseutunsa Maine.   [i]Saurin hiljaisuus[/i] on myös osoitus erinomaisesta ajankuvan tulkinnasta toki spekulatiivisella lisäyksellä. [i]Pekka Sauri ja Yölinja[/i] ohjelma tuli radiosta joskus 80-luvulta eteenpäin. Olipa erinomaisen kylmäävä tarina.   Erityisen tehokkaita olivat myös tarinat [i]Loki[/i] ja [i]Varpaat[/i]. Loki kertoo koirasta, joka ei jätä omistajaansa. Kylmääväksi tarinan tekee se, että Loki ei ole mikään tavallinen lemmikki. Kokoelman päättää piinanvan klaustrofobinen [i]Varpaat[/i].  4½[/spoiler]3. Tästä juonsi tapa risunukkien polttamiseen vuosittain merkkipäivänä. Yhteisössä kirkko ja perinteet ovat tärkeitä ja sukuja, jotka polveutuvat marttyyreista kunnioitetaan ja heillä on vaikutusvaltaa yhteisössä.   Kirja on helppolukuinen jännitysviihde romaani. Osa tarinoista sijoittuu nykyaikaan, mutta monet menneeseen aikaan sodan kynnykselle, keskelle tai jälkeen. Tarinoilla on yhteys toisiinsa ja sijoittuvat samoille alueille itä-Euroopassa. Slaavilainen mytologia on läsnä tarinoissa ja monet hahmot ovat poikkeuksellisia. Ensimmäisten tarinoiden jälkeen kirja ei tuntunut kovin synkältä, mutta kyllä se vaikutelma karisi kirjan edetessä. Hautalaa ei syyttä ole verrattu Stephen Kingiin. Mielestäni yhtymäkohta on siinä, miten kirjailijat tulkitsevat aikaa ja yleistä maailmanmenoa. He molemmat kykenevät luomaan aidon tuntuisen ympäristön tarkkanäköisyydellään ajankuvasta. Hautalan ympäristö on usein Suomi (Vaasan seutu), Kingillä taas oma asuinseutunsa Maine.   [i]Saurin hiljaisuus[/i] on myös osoitus erinomaisesta ajankuvan tulkinnasta toki spekulatiivisella lisäyksellä. [i]Pekka Sauri ja Yölinja[/i] ohjelma tuli radiosta joskus 80-luvulta eteenpäin. Olipa erinomaisen kylmäävä tarina.   Erityisen tehokkaita olivat myös tarinat [i]Loki[/i] ja [i]Varpaat[/i]. Loki kertoo koirasta, joka ei jätä omistajaansa. Kylmääväksi tarinan tekee se, että Loki ei ole mikään tavallinen lemmikki. Kokoelman päättää piinanvan klaustrofobinen [i]Varpaat[/i].  4½[/spoiler]3. Tästä juonsi tapa risunukkien polttamiseen vuosittain merkkipäivänä. Yhteisössä kirkko ja perinteet ovat tärkeitä ja sukuja, jotka polveutuvat marttyyreista kunnioitetaan ja heillä on vaikutusvaltaa yhteisössä.   Kirja on helppolukuinen jännitysviihde romaani. Slaavilainen mytologia on läsnä tarinoissa ja monet hahmot ovat poikkeuksellisia. Ensimmäisten tarinoiden jälkeen kirja ei tuntunut kovin synkältä, mutta kyllä se vaikutelma karisi kirjan edetessä. Slaavilainen mytologia on läsnä tarinoissa ja monet hahmot ovat poikkeuksellisia. Ensimmäisten tarinoiden jälkeen kirja ei tuntunut kovin synkältä, mutta kyllä se vaikutelma karisi kirjan edetessä.
