[b]36. A book you know nothing about [color=#006633]Milla Peltonen: Erakot: Omintakeisten suomalaisten elämäntarinoita[/color][/b] - Erakkoudesta en juurikaan tiedä mitään. Oma mielikuvani erakkoudesta on juuri kirjan alussakin kuvattu perusihmisen oletus erakosta; Lapin erämaassa asusteleva omalaatuinen ukkeli, joka pukeutuu rääsyihin ja peseytyy kerran vuodessa (siis noin karrikoidusti). Tämä teos oli yllättävän mielenkiintoinen ja avasi erakoitumisen maailmaa. Mukana oli toki juuri nämä Lapin kullankaivajaerakot, mutta tarinoita löytyy ympäri Suomea kullankaivuuajoilta aina tähän päivään asti. Suurin osa on miehiä, mutta mukaan mahtuu naisiakin. Lisäksi oli hyvä, että kirjassa oli nimenomaan yksityisten henkilöiden omia tarinoita, eikä pelkkää yleispätevää hölinää erakoista. Peltonen on kirjaa tehdessään puhunut itse näiden (nyky)erakkojen kanssa, joiden tarinat hän kertoo. Nyt on tässäkin asiassa sivistänyt itseään.   16/50 [spoiler]REGULAR 1. [b]36. [/b][b]A book you know nothing about[/b] Turo Kuningas: [i]Kutvonen in space[/i]   Mielihalun tämän kirjan lukemiseen herätti lähinnä hauska nimi ja hieno kansikuva. Kolmen lauseen mittainen takakansiteksti ei todellakaan pahemmin paljastanut, mitä sivut pitivät sisällään. Odotin hieman erikoisempaa lukukokemusta ja sellainen se tottavie olikin.   12/50

39. An #OwnVoices SFF (science fiction and fantasy) book - [url=https://www.risingshadow.fi/library/book/8990-viides-vuodenaika]N. K. Jemisin: Viides vuodenaika[/url]   Koen, että kirja on ”oma ääninen” ainakin rodullisessa näkökulmassa. Kirjailija nostaa hahmojen ihonvärin ja rodun esiin vahvasti kertomuksessa. Ihon eri sävyjä kuvaillaan kuten myös hiuksia. Valtaosa henkilöistä on tummaihoisia, mutta myös erittäin valkoihoisia hahmoja on mukana.   Tarina lähtee käyntiin omaperäisellä otteella ja sen maailmassa on paljon kiehtovia elementtejä. Kirjan alkupuolisko oli varsin mukaansatempaavaa ja ennalta arvaamatonta luettavaa. Loppupuoliskossa tarinan päälinja laantui tavanomaisemmaksi, mutta säilytti kuitenkin kiinnostavuutensa. Kirja ei mielestäni toimi itsenäisenä teoksena, koska tarina jäi täysin kesken – jatkot on siis luettava. 4+   15. Toivottavasti tästä ei tule B-luokan teinikauhu leffaa. Sellaisen siitä helposti saisi, koska juoni ei sinällään ole mutkikas. Kirjassa tarina oli kuitenkin varsin hyvin kerrottu, jota ei suoraan valkokankaalle pysty saamaan. 4   12/50
