A book from your TBR list chosen at random - [url=https://www.risingshadow.fi/library/book/1324-ugudibuu]Lilian Kallio: Ugudibuu[/url]   Sattumanvaraisesti ilman suunnittelua ja syytä omasta kirjahyllystä otettu luettavaksi. Juuri tämä kirja valikoitui lähinnä siksi, että oli hyllyssä siinä silmien korkeudella ns. tyrkyllä.   Kirja kertoo 5 nuoren naisen selviytymisestä maailmassa, missä kaikki muut ihmiset ovat kadonneet. Tarinan kerrontakeinona käytetään paljon dialogia – osittain Tampereen murteella. Jokaisella henkilöllä on omat vaikeutensa autioituneessa maailmassa. Kirja on kirjoitettu vuonna 1975 ja hauskasti siinä on myös sen ajan henkeä kuten pyöritettävät lankapuhelimet, kaljakorit ja vakosamettihousut. Pääosin henkilöt kuitenkin olivat aika rasittavia ja lukukokemuksenakin tarina jäi keskinkertaiseksi. 2½   9/50

Vaughan: Saga - Volume Eight[/url]   Sarjakuvia lue harvoin, mutta [i]Sagaa[/i] on tullut luettua. Odottelin suomennoksien jatkumista, mutta kun ei näy eikä kuulu niin jatketaan sitten englanniksi. On vierähtänytkin kolme vuotta, kun luin rankkuudessaan loisteliaan osan 7. Nyt on hyvä jatkaa, kun uusiakin osia lienee luvassa. Osa 8 tuntui aika tyngältä ja pirstaleiselta, mutta oli siinä selkeää teemaa ja sitä sarjaan kuuluvaa huumoriakin löytyi. 3½   10/50

Ensin päähenkilö lounastaa [i]Patsyn ruokabaarissa[/i] ja myöhemmin ruokailee pariin otteeseen [i]Holy Frijole[/i] nimisessä meksilois-vegetaristesessa ravintolassa, jolla on tarinassa isompikin rooli.   11/50    

[b]14. [/b][b]A book set in a restaurant[/b] Richard C. Morais: [i]Herkullinen elämä[/i]    Tämä sijoittuu itse asiassa useaankin. Ensimmäinen on Hajin perheen ravintola Mumbaissa. Toinen on heidän pieneen ranskalaiskylään perustamansa ravintola. Kolmas on tien toisella puolella sijaitseva perinteinen ranskalaisravintola, johon kirjan päähenkilö päätyy oppipojaksi. Viimeinen on hänen oma ravintolansa Pariisissa.   12/50

Aloitin ensin lukemaan ekotrilleriä [i]Pedot[/i], jossa oli 912 sivua, mutta päätin parin sadan sivun jälkeen, etten jaksa lukea kirjaa ollenkaan. Seuraavaksi pisin oli [i]Kuolema on ikuinen[/i] 874 sivulla.   12/50    

[b]22. A book set mostly or entirely outdoors[/b] Kira Jane Buxton:[i] Hollow kingdom[/i]   Kesy varis/korppi nimeltä S.T. huomaa rakkaan ihmisensä muuttuneen eräänä päivänä oudoksi. Itse asiassa kaikki ihmiset ovat muuttuneet oudoiksi. S.T. lähtee Dennis-vihikoiran kanssa selvittämään mitä ihmisille on tapahtunut ja kuinka auttaa omistajaansa. Tapahtumat sijoittuvat Seattlen seudulle ja suurimman osan ajasta ollaan ulkosalla.   13/50
