17. A book you expect to make you laugh - Shirley Jackson: Life Among the Savages

17. A book you expect to make you laugh: The Punisher MAX, Vol. 6: Barracuda (Garth Ennis)

Aluksen tehtävä on luoda uusia väyliä, madonreikiä, avaruuden paikasta a paikkaan b.

Aluksen tehtävä on luoda uusia väyliä, madonreikiä, avaruuden paikasta a paikkaan b.

[Spoileri - klikkaa]

Cromwellin tarina päättyy tarinassa oikean historian mukaisesti roviolla, maanpetoksesta tekaistusti syytettynä. Musta tuli on Sansomin fiktiivinen versio siitä mitkä tapahtumat sinetöivät hänen kohtalonsa.

15. A book with an unique format/writing structure - Samanta Schweblin: Houreuni
Carlan kertomukset Amandan muistoissa. Mielestäni tarpeeksi uniikki rakenne käydäkseen tähän kohtaan. Kirjan rakenne on yksi tärkeä elementti tarinan vaikuttavuuteen.

15. A book with an unique format/writing structure - Han Kang: Ihmisen teot
Iso osa kirjasta on kirjoitettu sinä-muodossa, mikä on minusta outoa.

37. A Women's Prize for Fiction winner or nominee - Emily St. John Mandel: Station Eleven
Ehdokas vuodelta 2015. Maailmanloppu tulee taas. Erinomainen dystopia, suosittelen!

Tästä scifi sarjasta olen tykännyt kovasti, Sawyer oli alunperin uusi tuttavuus, Lazarus War -trilogia on ollut erittäin viihdyttävä, vauhdikas ja mukanaanpitävä avaruusooppera.

19. A book nominated for the Edgar Award or by a Grand master author - Erik Larson: The Devil in the White City
Edgar Award for Best Fact Crime 2004. Kirja kertoi Chicagon maailmannäyttelystä v 1893 ja toisena juonilankana järkyttävän sarjamurhaajan tarinan. Erityisen järkyttävä siksi, että tarina oli tosi. Kyseinen monella nimellä esiintynyt murhaaja saattoi tappaa jopa 200 ihmistä vaikkakaan uhrien todellista määrää ei koskaan saatu selville.

40. A book from Amazon's 100 Books to Read in a Lifetime list David Sedaris: Me talk pretty one day
Kirja koostuu eri pituisista omaelämäkerrallisista tarinoista liittyen Sedarisin perheeseen, lapsuuteen, harjoittamiin ammatteihin ja elämään amerikkalaisena Ranskassa. Takakannessa Sedarisia kuvataan "Amerikan johtavaksi humoristiksi", mutta minusta kirja ei ollut kovinkaan hauska (paitsi luku, jossa sadistisen ranskankielen opettajan kansainväliset oppilaat yrittävät vajavaisilla kielitaidoillaan selittää marokkolaiselle toverilleen mikä on pääsiäinen) ja Sedaris itse vaikutti aika epäsympaattiselta tyypiltä.
